Milwaukee has experienced a development boom in recent years, while this goes largely unknown to people in other cities, the results are undeniable.
This map highlights the faceted growth in the downtown area of Milwaukee to demonstrate the concentration of projects. The developments are color coordinated, gray = road project, green = residential development, pink = entertainment and blue = commercial/offices. All of these projects are from 2022-2024, and highlight the focus on increasing traffic flow in preparation for greater population growth and job creation. The beauty of the map is that it is able to show, for those who do not frequent the downtown Milwaukee area, how much growth the city has seen over the past two years. Such concentration in these areas, specifically in Walker’s Point, Westown and Juneau Town also highlights the concentration of people and the social disparities of the surrounding areas.
